Today is our little guy's sixth birthday.
It has been a hard few weeks as we thought we would be farther along in the process by now. I was hoping we would have gone to court this week as it would have meant that if we were approved we would have found out on his birthday but our lawyer apparently decided not to go to court this week. Last week we didn't go because he decided not to take a case to court until the homestudy is at least three months old. Thankfully our homestudy is now three months old so that new reason won't apply to us next week.
We really want to meet Kwame and are anxious to bring him home. We get little updates of families saying what a wonderful boy he is and how excited he is to have a family.
My hope is that someone at his adoption center realizes it is his birthday and gives him a little extra attention today. A few other moms are going to meet and bring home their children in the next week or so which means we can send along a little note or something for Kwame and can hopefully get a few pictures!
Happy Birthday Kwame!!
PS- I will be posting more in the coming weeks as today is my last official day of work for the summer! WOO HOO!

I've been wondering quite often lately how things are going with Kwame's adoption. How frustrating, especially after Selina's process went so quickly.
I don't understand the reasoning behind waiting until the homestudy is three months old. That seems a bit odd. Is the atty planning on doing that with all cases now?
Sending an extra bday prayer up for your son today.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KWAME!!! Yayyy, 6!!!!
(our little guy turned "4" (we think it is actually "5") last week in Ghana. No party or hoopla, but we will celebrate enough when he is home. It was probably no big deal for him, but for me it was. Thankfully our next door neighbor had a b-day same day, so we had a bbque and firepit and spoiled him (he turned 42!). (boys will be boys, right)?
Have a blessed summer. We will be praying from here on out things go smoothly for Kwame and family!!!

Happy Birthday Kwame! It's so frustrating when you are waiting for something to happen. We were thinking we would be going to court any time now, but haven't heard anything either. Praying for soon for us both!
Happy Birthday to Kwame! We LOVE your little guy and hope and pray he felt extra special today b/c he is very extra special too! I am praying for you as you wait and at the same time I KNOW that no words can help, but it is nice to know that people are thinking of you. We will hope that there is some good news next week for you so that you can get on over there and meet him!
Congrats on your last day of work too!
Oh Jen, I'm so sorry that you didn't get to go to court today. I know how heartbreaking it is, especially since you've known who your son was going to be for quite a while. Keeping your family and Kwame in our prayers, and praying that things work themselves out in Ghana so that he can come home soon.
